Port Blair, Feb 19: The Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu arrived Port Blair for a visit to Andaman & Nicobar Islands from 19 to 23 Feb 24. She was received by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VSM, NM (Retd), Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan, AVSM, VM, Commander-in-Chief Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN) and other senior government officials. The Supreme Commander of India’s Defence Forces reviewed a joint services Guard of Honour with 150 personnel of the Andaman and Nicobar Command.

Kadamtala, Feb 19: In a decisive move on 19/02/2024, the vigilant team at PS Kadamtala acted upon credible information regarding the arrival of an individual at Kadamtala Bazaar for the illicit sale of venison. The operation, led by SI P.M Krishna Kumar, SHO PS Kadamtala, HC Pradeep Das, PCs Sikendar Khan, Sevika Xalxo and Palani, successfully intercepted the suspect.

The suspect, identified as Subendu Kumar Mondal, was observed carrying 02 heavy plastic bags going behind the Bengali Hotel, Kadamtala in suspicious manner. A noticeable hesitation and quick retreat upon spotting the police led to the team's suspicion. A thorough search of the bags revealed wildlife-protected red meat, suspected to be venison.

Port Blair, Feb 19: The passengers/general public have been informed that due to administrative reasons, the announced sailing schedule of the vessel Sindhu from Port Blair to Little Andaman on 21st February, 2024 and her return voyage from Little Andaman has been cancelled. Passengers those who are holding the tickets of Sindhu have been advised to cancel their tickets and get full refund. However, to facilitate the commuters of Little Andaman, the Directorate of Shipping Services has scheduled the vessel MV Bharat Seema to sail for Little Andaman on 21.02.2024 at 0700 hrs from Haddo Wharf and will sail back to Port Blair on the same day at 2000 hrs from Little Andaman.
